During an event held on Tuesday 14th November, at the FJVA Business Centre in Qormi, Mr Francis J Vassallo, President of The MIMICI Foundation, in collaboration with FJVA, has presented a generous donation on behalf of the same foundation to Mr Reuben M Buttigieg, President of Optimist Club of Malta.
This much welcomed donation will go towards the funding of several of the Optimist Club of Malta’s ambitious projects, which include the nationwide, highly regarded ‘Ikber Magħna’ project, which aims to assist primary school children in several localities, with their studies and homework and provide them with valuable character-building experiences through several educational extra-curriculum activities.
Optimist Club of Malta forms part of Optimist International, recognised worldwide as the premier volunteer organisation that values all children and helps them develop to their full potential.
Optimist International’s purpose, since its inception in 1919, is to develop optimism as a philosophy of life utilising the tenets of the Optimist Creed by promoting and encouraging the development of youth, in the belief that the giving of one’s self in service to others will advance the well-being of humankind, community life and the world.
The MIMICI Foundation has been set up in memory of Mr Francis J Vassallo’s beloved wife Erminia (sive Mimici) who passed away in August 2013. Mimici was a strong and determined lady whose generosity was a constant beacon of hope to others, not just by offering money or clothing, but also by going out of her way to assist anybody in need. The MIMICI Foundation’s objective is to carry on her legacy of making life better for people in need, whether financially or by assisting in the education of those who cannot afford a proper education.
Optimist Club of Malta reiterates that it is only through such valuable donations and sponsors who share its vision, can the organisation’s projects become a reality, projects which are ultimately aimed at supporting those in need.
